Phil Jackson
I am a Senior Lecturer in Media and Music at Edge Hill Univerity in the North West of the United Kingdom. I am also a lifelong Eurofan, so I'm lucky that I can move beyond my fandom and indulge in the academic study of the ESC. I have researched a number of ESC related areas including: Eurovision as a Media Event; Branding and the Eurovision Song Contest; Eurovision Fandom as Lived Expereince; Online fans and Eurovision; Collective identities and the Music of the Eurovision Song Contest. Over the last few year I have corresponded for the BBC and Trinity Media group, and appear regularly on the radio and in the press covering the wonderful world of the ESC.
I am glad to be part of an emerging academic research area, and hope that the ERN will bring scholars, fans, media and culture industry professionals together to further unwrap the impact of the ESC. You can also visit my popblog to see my random thoughts on popular music.
